WHO WE ARE
Meet THE TEAM
Through Jordanny and Stacieâs shared vision of redefining the world of sobriety, one vacation experience at a time, Sober Costa Rica was born!
United by their complementary strengths, their unwavering dedication to preserving the authenticity of Costa Rica, and their passion for sharing it with fellow travelers, they channel this into supporting individuals on their sobriety journey and breaking the stigmas associated with sober travel.
Our pledge to our community is to offer the gift of sobriety to fellow nationals, mirroring the opportunity that Jordanny himself received. We allocate 10% of our total profits directly to support local Costa Rican communities and individuals in need of essential resources.
Jordanny Garcia
Founder & Lead Guide
Our founder and lead guide, Jordanny, grew up in a small fishing village in Costa Rica that once was a remote destination known for the waves and off-the-grid living. As a young boy, Jordanny experienced the challenges of family addiction, poverty, and the devastating death of his sister. This resulted in nearly two decades of an on-and-off battle with addiction.
One constant was the ocean, serving as a sacred space. Nature's healing, his version of therapy, and the place he found peace. Today, Jordanny has found solace through his relentless commitment to his program work and trusting his high power.
As he remains active in his recovery he is committed to rewriting his story and changing the face of travel and sobriety.
STACIE BROWN
Co-Founder
Stacie, our co-founder and all things operations, moved to Costa Rica in 2018 leaving the traditional city lifestyle and corporate job behind for the tranquil life of Costa Rica. Little did she know she was about to embark on a journey that would be anything but tranquil. As she began a shared journey with Jordanny she was unaware of the grip addiction would have on their family.
Watching a loved one battle addiction is tough, but Stacie embraced the healing powers of Costa Rica-the grounding of nature, the cleansing of the ocean, and the peaceful stillness. Embracing this transformative environment, she found support in the community and became a pillar for their daughter.
Her journey through and the impact on the family dynamic of addiction drives Stacie to support families heal through travel.
